Timothy P. Grady<\/strong> is professor of history at the University of South Carolina Upstate. For a decade he has researched and published on the history of the South Carolina Upstate. As a part of this community-based approach, Dr. Grady has joined with organizations like the Spartanburg County Historical Association, the Upcountry History Museum, the public library systems of Spartanburg and Greenville counties, and numerous other local groups focusing on educating people about Upstate history. As co-director of Fabric of the Past<\/em>, Dr. Grady will coordinate logistical support for the seminar participants, co-lead with Dr. Andrew H. Myers activities focused on content knowledge, and supplement curriculum development.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Rebecca Mueller<\/strong>, project co-director, is an assistant professor of social studies education at USC Upstate. She taught secondary social studies for 10 years in Lexington, Kentucky, during which time she earned her National Board professional teaching certification. Her research focusing on teachers\u2019 use of inquiry and questioning in the social studies classroom has recently appeared in the Journal of Social Studies Research<\/em> and Social Studies Research and Practice<\/em>. She also co-edited a 2015 National Council for the Social Studies Bulletin, Teaching the C3 Framework: Exploring Inquiry-Based Instruction in Social Studies<\/em>. She has assisted with various professional development workshops about the C3 Framework and Inquiry Design Model.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Andrew Myers<\/strong> learned the value of active learning while serving as an Army officer, and has used hands-on techniques with undergraduates for more than 20 years. He has a passion for local history, which he shares by regularly giving talks at K\u201312 schools and other venues. He has a special interest in the textile industry because both of his parents, all of his grandparents, and three of his great-grandparents lived in a mill village. His research into the Charlottesville Woolen Mills contributed to the adjacent neighborhood being added to the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places. He earned his Ph.D. as a student of The New South Creed<\/em> author Paul Gaston, and was a graduate assistant to Promise of the New South<\/em> author Edward Ayers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Ann Merryman<\/strong> is an associate librarian and coordinator of archives and special collections at USC Upstate. She provides research instruction to dual-enrolled high school students and undergraduates in the first-year English composition program and for the history and political science departments. She has a growing interest in oral history collection for under-represented communities, and has been piloting a student service-learning oral history project with teaching faculty at USC Upstate. She has co-organized several large-scale, multi-day professional archival conferences at the state level.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Warren Bareiss<\/strong> is an associate professor of communication at USC Upstate. He earned his Ph.D. from Indiana University and his master's degree from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania.
